Easter Hours
HSL will be open over the Easter weekend.
Holiday hours on:
Good Friday, April 22nd: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m
Regular hours on:
Saturday, April 23rd: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m
Sunday, April 24th: 12:00 noon – 8:00 p.m..
New Books
Currently, new books once received in final processing would show in the catalogue as ‘available’, even while in transit to the home branch. This was been causing some problems for clients who were placing holds on new items that had not yet made it to the shelves. Beginning about mid-April, the new books in transit to their home location will show as ‘available soon’, and will not be holdable. This means that new books received at the branches will need to be discharged.
Compulsory Education Collection

A number of Compulsory Education items are being removed from the Comp Ed collection, including the self-directed Learning Modules with DVD in the white binders. This material is now available to AHS staff online:

Compulsory Education
CPR/BLS manuals are good until June 30th, and Neonatal Resuscitation Textbooks (NRP) are likely good until 2012 or until further notice. Thanks.
HIN holdables
Beginning Tuesday, April 19th, items at the HIN KCs will be on shelf holdable. That will mean that clients will be able to place holds on items on Knowledge Center shelves and the KCs will be included in the onshelf hold reports printed twice daily. Staff will be able to pull the items, discharge and place on their hold shelf. Any hold transfer requests will be handled as usual.
Research Assistant Program
If there are questions about instruction from research assistants, we can let them know that Melanie will be providing instruction for Research Assistants likely between mid-May and mid-June.
Potluck
Please join us for our Easter Potluck Wednesday, April 20th, 11:30 - 1:30 pm in HSL staff area.
MCCQE
The Medical Qualifying Exams with be held in our Computer Classrooms from April 26 – May 10th. The computer classrooms will be booked for the exams Monday through Friday during these dates from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and faculty staff facilitating the exams may be in the library early during this period. The classroom will be available to others during evenings and weekends.
Renovation
Lights: Two lights at the service desk and a number of lights in 1456 need to be replaced. They have been reported.
Front table: The new public table near the front of the library is now wired for power. It should be hard wired for network internet service this coming week.
Public computers: The public computers near the service desk have been shifted to allow more client space at the workstations.
Rooms: The meeting room behind the computer classroom Room 1459 (where the entry to the Info Commons used to be) is almost complete. The large table should be installed soon.
Sirsi at Ref Desk
A reminder that Sisri can be opened at the reference workstation to assist with service transactions at the desk.
