Starting today, the Health Information Network (HIN) and Calgary Public Library (CPL) are piloting a leisure reading program at the Tom Baker Cancer Knowledge Centre.
A brief about the program:
CPL is leaving some of their popular leisure materials with us to lend to patients, families and staff at the hospital. We are piloting this program at TBCC for three months, improving the service as we go along. If the pilot is successful, we plan to roll this service out to other KCs.
- Items are entered into our system with brief title records and distributed using HIN library cards.
- The collection will be refreshed from CPL as needed.
- Items can be returned to any KC. If you receive one, please send back to TBCC.
- We will not enforce fines on these items.
- Full details on the circulation procedure in the HIN Policy and Procedure Manual: R:\Knowledge-Centers\HIN Policy & Procedure Manual\Circulation\Z. Circulation of Calgary Public Library (CPL) Materials – Pilot.
There is a quick information sheet available for clients in the Knowledge Centre and online here: http://hinc.ucalgary.ca/content/leisure-reading-tom-baker-cancer-knowledge-centre-pilot-project.
If you have any questions about this program, feel free to direct them to Kathryn, Julie or Yongtao.
